SECRET SOUND ECHO

Secret Sound Echo — Content Use Agreement

Effective date: September 18, 2026

REVIEW NOTICE. Draft for attorney review, not legal advice. It is written to match what the system actually does as of this date; if the system changes, this document must change with it. It must also be read against the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for contradictions before it ships.

This is the agreement you accept once, when you make your Secret Sound Echo profile. It covers everything you contribute to Secret Sound Echo, everywhere on the site. You are not asked again later, and nothing you do on the site is gated behind a second consent request.

It does not cover a Season Feature. If you are booked as a Season Feature you sign a separate Season Feature Agreement, which stands on its own and is not replaced, modified, or implied by this one.

1. What this covers

"Your material" means anything you contribute to Secret Sound Echo, including:

  • Your performance at a night. Video, audio, and photographs of you performing, hosting, or speaking at a Secret Sound Echo event, recorded by us or on our behalf.
  • Your voice, name, likeness, and stage name, as they appear in that material.
  • Written responses to a night's prompt — the Secret — that you write in the room.
  • Anything you say in a room's feed, including the Echo Feed during a night and the chat inside a writing session.
  • Work you upload to The Writers Block — the recording and the words you put underneath it.
  • Anything you record on the site, and the text your browser makes of it. Recording on your page offers to write down what you say so the piece can be searched for and read. Your browser does the transcribing. In Chrome that means the audio goes to Google to be turned into text. You choose at the end what is kept: the words alone, and the recording never leaves your device; the recording alone; or both.
  • What you write in a writing session, including entries you submit, and any video response you record after a session reveals.
  • Photos and video you shoot at a night and upload to us, along with any caption or note you attach.
  • Material you upload for your set — backing tracks, and the images or video shown on the screen behind you.
  • Material you contribute to a Season, including titles, writing, links, and media.
  • Your profile — the name, stage name, photograph, biography, and links you choose to publish, and your listing in Voices, the public directory of everyone who writes here. You can take yourself off that list at any time in Edit profile; doing so leaves your profile in place and reachable by its own link.
  • Anything you submit through the apply form, including a clip, subject to Section 4.

2. What you allow us to do with it

You give Secret Sound Echo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use your material:

  • On the site. On your profile, on prompt pages, on writing session pages, on Season pages, on the landing page, and in search.
  • On the screen in the room. On the venue display during a night, including before, between, and during sets.
  • In recordings and releases that come out of the room. Albums, singles, Secret Sound Sessions, video, and printed work produced by Secret Sound Echo.
  • In promotion. Announcing and promoting Secret Sound Echo nights, seasons, releases, and the league itself — on social media, in email, in print, and in advertising for those things.
  • In the archive. Keeping your material after a night has passed, so the record of the night stays intact.

You keep ownership of your material. This licence lets us use it; it does not take it from you, and it does not stop you using your own work anywhere else, for anything, at any time.

3. Credit

We credit you by the name on your profile — your stage name if you have one, otherwise your name — wherever the format allows it. If a format genuinely cannot carry a credit line, we will not misattribute your work to anyone else.

4. What we do not do

  • We do not sell your material, and we do not licence it to anyone else to sell.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information.
  • We do not use your material to advertise anything that is not ours. No sponsor gets your work as their advertisement. Sponsors may support a night or a prompt; that never buys them your writing or your performance.
  • We do not publish applications. What you send through the apply form is private and stays private. Submitting one is not a booking.
  • We do not publish your prompt responses from a night by default. They are visible to you and to Secret Sound staff. A selected response is published only as part of a Secret Sound product, with credit.
  • We do not reveal writing session entries early. Before a session closes, your entry is readable only by you and that session's curator. Drafts you never submit are never published at all.
  • We do not train, or allow others to train, artificial intelligence models on your material.

5. What stays yours to control

  • Work you publish to your profile is yours to remove. Take it down and it comes off the site.
  • A writing session entry is yours to withdraw after the session reveals, without giving a reason.
  • Publishing is always a separate act. A session revealing your work to the room does not publish it to your profile. That is a second, deliberate choice, and it is yours.
  • You can withdraw this consent at any time by writing to hello@secretsoundecho.com. Withdrawal stops future use. It does not reach into things already pressed, printed, published, or released — those cannot be recalled — and it does not undo a Season Feature Agreement, which has its own terms.

6. Recordings you upload of other people

If you upload footage you shot at a night, you confirm you actually recorded it. Do not upload someone else's recording as your own. We may take down anything contributed in breach of this.

7. If you are under 18

Do not make a profile or contribute material without a parent or guardian's permission. If we learn that we hold material from someone under 18 without it, we will remove it.

8. Changes

If we change this agreement in a way that affects what you have allowed, we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. The version you accepted, and the date you accepted it, are recorded against your profile — so what you agreed to can always be shown exactly.

9. Contact
